Killeen Castle -- Caisleán a' Chillín Killeen, Castlegar, Co. Galway Dates from the fifteenth century,
built by Redmond Burke in 1493. Built description: small
tower house with 19th century extension as well as a stone
extension and alterations built in 1990. Architect: Marta

of 1990's cementitious thin flat stonework to battlements, and
recreating a typical 15th century configuration, with Alure
walkway and gabled roof and other structural elements.
External Lime pointing (much debated), interior acrylic paint
removals, preservation of daub and wattle plaster remnants to
domed ceilings, lime plastering walls, repairs and new works.
Installing corbeled beamed floors to 2nd floor. Truss
beamed ceiling/roof to top floor. |
